Whole school month-by-month professional learning model
This month-by-month blended model of face-to-face and online PL has been designed for a whole school or community of schools approach to create a shared vision and to then bring about and sustain change. Teachers meet face-to-face at their school in small teams, once a month over the 6 month period to collaboratively work through the five sequential modules. The modules are designed to segment learning allowing teachers time to implement new ideas whilst refining their practice. One of the areas utlising this model of PD is Primary mathematics and consultant Anita Chin Video of in-class demonstration lessons,K-6 by Anita and organisation of concrete materials and resources are key features of all Anita’s courses. Below is a Kindergarten classroom now resourced,as a result of doing the course. |
"I love how all of the activities are so open ended and engages the children in their learning. It is very “hands-on” and it is quite obvious that the children really enjoy the activities.
It also makes you realise how easy it is to differentiate the curriculum using the exact same materials. The language that has been introduced has been fantastic and I have heard a lot more “mathematical” terminology used during our maths lessons. There are also many great opportunities for assessment and I like the idea of taking and using a photo as a form of assessment." STACEY WHITING, YEAR 4 TEACHER Rosary Park Catholic School, Branxton, NSW |

Course Support for Leaders
The course is facilitated at a school based level by the School Coordinator who regularly meets with the Team Leaders.
The school coordinator or PLT leader is supported by their own modules to guarantee they are informed and the course runs smoothly Also, schools have the flexibility to design their own implementation timeline and starting date to fit in with other whole school priorities and commitments. Every school already has a PLT Leader. What my courses do is to provide a platform for professional dialogue about learning to occur once a month in small teams over a 6 month period of time |

"The level of student engagement has increased dramatically. Students who found Mathematical concepts and activities challenging now have a “go” and are displaying a greater understanding, success and enthusiasm when concrete materials are being utilised."
